Somehow it seems positively grotesque to “Like” the photos of the devastation dealt to New Jersey shore by Hurricane Sandy. Yet one feels compelled to witness the destruction. Hearing the stories of near-misses and complete annihilation of all that families possessed is heart-breaking.
For the very many of us who were without power and sat through the storm in the darkness, we have no idea of what befell our neighbors. People are traveling hours in search of power outlets and cell phone reception which is spotty at best throughout Lower Manhattan, Staten Island and the Central Jersey Shore.
This is one of the best places I’ve found for current news and for photos of the aftermath of Sandy. This seems to be the spot where the Jersey Shore community is gathering for updates and to share on Facebook.
